My biography

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and mental health advocate. I grew up in Lebanon where I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies and where I am currently living and working.

I received a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Psychology from the American University of Beirut. I am currently continuing my postgraduate studies at Harvard Medical School in Trauma Recovery (Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma Certificate Program).

My professional experience is based on intensive clinical internship at St. George University Medical Hospital, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital, workshop training in Gestalt Therapy by GATLA, workshop training in Motivational Interviewing with Professor Stephen Rollick (MISR-UK), workshop training in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy for Mood Disorders at Anna Freud National Center for Children and Families (UK), workshop training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorders (Action on Addition), training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), training in Trauma (principle, challenges and neurobiological legacy of Trauma) with Professor Janina Fisher, training in addiction and psychodynamic Therapy through clinical supervision and most recently training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder at Harvard Medical School.

I am currently working as a clinical psychologist at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in the Adult Psychiatry Department and part-time psychology instructor at the American University of Beirut. I am also involved in research on mental health and addiction.

I strongly believe in contributing to the larger community. Part of the work I do entails offering workshops to mental health professionals and lectures to the public and students at universities and schools to raise awareness on mental health and importance of prevention strategies.
